Cookie Policy

Short version: Coloring Ponpon sets no cookies of its own. The adverts that keep the site free are served by Google, which sets advertising cookies — used to personalise adverts where you have allowed it, and otherwise only to count and cap them. Visitors in Europe are asked before any of them is set. Everything else we record is described in the Privacy Policy.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser so it can recognise that browser on the next request. “Local storage” is a similar mechanism that stays on your device and is never sent anywhere. This page lists both, because people rightly care about both.

Stored by us

Name Type Purpose Lifetime
cp-theme Local storage, not a cookie Remembers whether you chose light or dark mode Until you clear your browser data
cp-profile, cp-recent-colors, ponpon-coloring Local storage and IndexedDB, not cookies Your name and email for the gallery (only if you tick “remember me”), your recent colors, and pages you are still coloring Until you clear your browser data
comment_author_* Cookie Remembers your name and email for the next comment — only if you tick the box under the comment form About a year
WordPress session cookies (wordpress_*, wp-settings-*) Cookie, strictly necessary Only ever set if you log in to the site’s admin area. Ordinary visitors never receive these. Session, or as set at login

Stored by Google for advertising

Adverts on this site are served by Google AdSense. Google may set the cookies below on the domains google.com, doubleclick.net and googlesyndication.com. With your consent they are used to personalise adverts to your interests, including across other sites that use Google advertising; without it they are used only for frequency capping, counting views and clicks so advertisers are billed correctly, and detecting fraud. The exact set varies with your region, your choices and your browser; Google keeps the authoritative list on its cookies page.

Name Domain Purpose Lifetime
__gads, __gpi coloringponpon.com (set by Google’s script) Frequency capping, measuring advert views and, with consent, ad personalisation 13 months
IDE doubleclick.net Records adverts viewed or clicked and, with consent, builds the interest profile used to personalise them 13 months
test_cookie doubleclick.net Checks whether the browser accepts cookies at all 15 minutes
NID google.com Google’s general preference cookie, also used for fraud detection 6 months
FPGCLAW, FPGCLGB (and similar) coloringponpon.com Advert click measurement when an advert is clicked 90 days

If you decline in the consent message, Google serves adverts in a limited mode that sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. Outside Europe you can achieve the same with the opt-out links below.

Consent

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland see a consent message on their first visit, provided through Google’s certified consent platform. Nothing in the advertising table above is stored until you choose. Your choice itself is remembered (that is the one thing stored either way) for up to 13 months. To change it, use “Privacy and cookie settings” in the footer of any page. Visitors in US states with privacy laws can use “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” in the footer. Elsewhere we rely on your browser settings and the opt-out links below.

No analytics

We run no analytics at all — not a cookie-based kind and not a “cookie-free” kind either. No script on this site counts, profiles or follows you. Google’s advert reports tell us how many adverts were shown, and that is the only measurement we have. If that ever changes, this page is updated first.

The coloring tool

The tool is entirely local. The page you color, the colors you pick and the picture you produce stay in your browser’s memory and on your device. Nothing is uploaded; nothing is stored on our servers; nothing about your artwork is tracked. The tool shows no adverts.

Turning things off

  • Consent message (Europe): choose “Do not consent”, or reopen it later from the footer link.
  • Google Ads Settings: adssettings.google.com lets you opt out of Google’s advertising cookies across every site that uses them.
  • Industry opt-outs: aboutads.info (US) and youronlinechoices.com (Europe) cover many advertisers at once.
  • Browser settings: every browser can block third-party cookies, delete cookies on exit, or clear them now. Blocking them does not break anything here — the only effect is that the site forgets your light/dark choice if you also clear local storage.

If this ever changes

If we one day add anything else that sets cookies or receives data about visitors, we will update this page before it goes live and ask for your consent where the law requires it. We will not quietly switch anything on.
